Remembering in New Paltz What Labor Day is All About: September 7, 2026 

Labor Day 2026 is upon us, and the Village of New Paltz will be welcoming hundreds of visitors seeking to make the most of these last hazy, crazy days of summer.

This weekend the line of traffic exiting the New York State Thruway will stretch the entire length of Main Street to the Carmine Liberta Bridge spanning the Wallkill River. All of us locals know to avoid any travel along Main Street in either direction over Labor Day weekend. We know that the trick is to pick a parallel street and then use a cross street with a traffic light that’s closest to our destination.
